Filler Rules: Set Default Values for Tracking Variables
Where to find it
Smart Offers > Filler Rules
What Filler Rules do
A Filler Rule automatically sets a value for a tracking variable (like source, g1, g2) when an affiliate's tracking link doesn't include that parameter.
Example: Your advertiser requires a source value in every postback. Some affiliates don't pass a source. A Filler Rule can auto-fill source=organic for any click that doesn't include it.
Creating a Filler Rule
- Go to Smart Offers > Filler Rules
- Click Create Rule
- Fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | A label for this rule |
| Variable | Which parameter to fill (source, g1, g2, etc.) |
| Status | Active or Disabled |
| Force Override | On = always apply even if the parameter is already set |
| Targeting | Limit rule to specific offers, affiliates, geos, OS |
| Rules Configuration | Value + Weight pairs — TrackOG uses weighted random selection |
- Click Add Rule to add value/weight pairs
- Auto Distribute — evenly distributes weights across values
- Save
Value and weight example
| Value | Weight |
|---|---|
| organic | 50 |
| push | 30 |
| social | 20 |
TrackOG randomly assigns one of these values to the source parameter based on the weights — 50% of the time "organic", 30% "push", 20% "social".
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between Filler Rules and Smart Links? A: Smart Links route traffic to different offers. Filler Rules fill in missing tracking parameter values — they work at the sub-parameter level, not the offer routing level.
Q: Will Force Override break my affiliates' tracking? A: If Force Override is on, it replaces whatever value the affiliate passed. Use carefully — only for cases where the affiliate's value should never reach the advertiser.
